PORTALJABAR, CIMAHI CITY - West Java Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan highlighted the frequent traffic congestion in Cimahi City. According to him, this is inextricably linked to the increasing economic growth in the city of half a million people.

He said that the traffic jam problem must be resolved immediately because if it is allowed to continue, it will result in increased public depression and air pollution.

"We must anticipate together so that this congestion does not become a disaster for our children and grandchildren in the future, starting from the level of pollution and the stress of its citizens," he said at the DPRD Plenary Session commemorating the 25th Anniversary of Cimahi City, at the Cimahi City DPRD Building, Sunday (21/6/2026).

The West Java Provincial Government is ready to help resolve existing problems through infrastructure financial assistance and by exploring potential regional original income (PAD) from other sectors.

Erwan said that having become a fully autonomous region on June 21, 2001, Cimahi has now transformed into a buffer city for the capital of West Java Province that is advanced, safe, and independent.

He admitted that he had a Cimahi ID card from 2000 to 2003. Erwan witnessed Cimahi's transformation from an administrative city to an autonomous city.

"I personally feel proud to have had a Cimahi ID card from 2000-2003, so at that time I witnessed Cimahi's journey from an administrative city to the autonomous city it is today," he said.

Erwan hopes that the momentum of the 25th anniversary will be used as a benchmark to move forward, stronger and special.
