PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - Efforts to increase awareness of environmental cleanliness and encourage public participation in maintaining public spaces were carried out through the Clean Friday Movement implemented by Tarogong Kaler District on Friday (12/6/2026) in commemoration of World Environment Day.

The event began with a roll call attended by Tarogong Kaler District officials and Scout members. Following the roll call, all participants participated in a cleanup of Tarogong Square, a public space that serves as a hub for community activity.

Through this activity, participants cleaned the town square of trash and various materials that could potentially disrupt the environment. This action demonstrated a tangible commitment to environmental stewardship and an effort to create a clean, healthy, and comfortable public space for the community.

The Clean Friday Movement was led by Tarogong Kaler Sub-district Head, Rakhmat Alamsyah, who also attended the event. He stated that maintaining environmental cleanliness is a shared responsibility that requires the involvement of all elements of society.

"World Environment Day should not be merely a ceremonial event, but also a momentum to raise awareness and concern for the environment. Through this activity, we want to encourage the entire community to adopt clean living habits and help maintain the cleanliness of shared public facilities," he said.

In addition to creating a cleaner environment, this activity also serves as a means to foster a spirit of mutual cooperation, strengthen togetherness, and build a culture of environmental care within the community.

The Scouts' participation in these activities is expected to set a positive example for the younger generation in maintaining environmental cleanliness and sustainability from an early age. Education through concrete actions is considered crucial for developing a character that cares about the environment and public spaces.

Through the Clean Friday Movement, the Tarogong Kaler District hopes to continue to raise public awareness of the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness. A clean and healthy environment can maintain people's quality of life while also supporting the creation of a comfortable and sustainable environment for future generations.
