PORTALJABAR, CIAMIS REGENCY - Ciamis Regent Herdiat Sunarya together with the Ciamis Regency National Zakat Agency distributed aid to 2,650 orphans and the poor from 258 villages and seven sub-districts in the courtyard of the Ciamis Regency Regional Secretariat Hall as a form of social concern in the month of Muharram (29/6/2026).

Each village and sub-district sent 10 children as beneficiaries in activities that were part of strengthening the culture of mutual cooperation in the Ciamis Regency community.

Herdiat Sunarya said that the month of Muharram is a momentum to strengthen concern for orphans and the poor through collective sharing.

"This is the month of compassion. The aghnia, officials, and all of us who are blessed with ample sustenance must be able to show compassion by setting aside a portion of our sustenance for the poor and orphans," he said.

Herdiat emphasized that concern for orphans and the poor is a shared responsibility of the government, religious scholars, philanthropists, and the entire community.

He hopes that the spirit of sharing will continue to grow throughout the year so that more people can feel the benefits.

The Regent of Ciamis also appreciated the contribution of state civil servants, the TNI, the Polri, religious scholars, the National Zakat Collection Agency, and the community who supported the implementation of this activity.

Herdiat said that the main strength of Ciamis Regency comes not only from regional income, but also from the culture of mutual cooperation that is continuously maintained.

"Our local revenue (PAD) may be small, but we possess enormous social capital, namely the culture of mutual cooperation. If we add up the religious and social activities carried out in various regions, the value is certainly enormous. We can develop Ciamis through synergy and collaboration between all stakeholders and the community," he said.

Herdiat also motivated the recipients of the assistance to continue studying, diligently reciting the Koran, and remain enthusiastic about achieving their dreams as the next generation of Ciamis Regency.

The activity closed with a symbolic handover of donations and a sermon that strengthened the spirit of sharing and social concern within the community.
