PORTALJABAR, CIAMIS REGENCY - The Ciamis Regency Government supports the establishment of the Siti Halimah Sejati Agrarian Reform Academy in Kalijaya Village, Banjaranyar District, to strengthen the role of women in food security and agrarian reform (2/7/2026).

The inauguration of the academy was combined with the Declaration of Women Agrarian Fighters of West Java at the Siti Halimah Sejati Agrarian Reform Academy Building, Kalijaya Village.

Ciamis Regent Herdiat Sunarya stated that the academy's presence is a concrete step towards increasing the capacity of the community, particularly female farmers, through education and training.

"Today's momentum belongs not only to the residents of Ciamis, but is part of a collective movement and a symbol of solidarity in the agrarian struggle at the regional and national levels," said Herdiat.

Herdiat explained that the name Siti Halimah reflects the determination, courage, and dedication of women in fighting for agrarian rights and maintaining food sovereignty.

According to him, Banjaranyar is now a center for education and training for women agrarian reform fighters who bring benefits to the community and the agricultural sector.

"We are very proud that Ciamis has been entrusted with becoming an educational center for women activists for agrarian reform. This proves that Ciamis is fertile ground for the birth of progressive ideas and just humanitarian movements," he said.

Herdiat emphasized that equitable access to land is the main foundation for realizing sustainable food security for the community.

"We cannot talk about food security without first ensuring equitable access to land for farmers. Land is the primary capital for agricultural production. When farmers have security and sovereignty over their land, their enthusiasm for production, innovation, and food sustainability will grow stronger," he said.

She also believes that women farmers play an important role in maintaining food production, preserving local seeds, and strengthening family food security.

Herdiat hopes that the Siti Halimah Sejati Agrarian Reform Academy will produce female agrarian champions who are capable of improving the welfare of farmers and encouraging sustainable agricultural development.
