PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java (Jabar) Department of Industry and Trade (Disperindag) will hold the West Java International Industry and Trade Expo (WIITEX) 2026, with the theme "The Golden Belt of Java: Coffee, Tea, and Cocoa for the Future".
Head of the West Java Department of Industry and Trade, Nining Yuliastiani, said that this inaugural event aims to strengthen West Java's superior products, namely tea, coffee, and cocoa, so that they will become even more prominent on the global stage.
"This is our first exhibition. The Golden Belt of Java: Coffee, Tea, and Cocoa for the Future is the theme because these three products have premium quality and also have extraordinary competitiveness in global trade or exports from West Java," he said in BEJA (Bewara Jawa Barat) Vol. 18, at Gedung Sate on Tuesday (9/6/2026).
WIITEX will take place from June 12-14, 2026, at Sumarecon Mall Bandung. Several activities will feature, including business matching, which brings together domestic and international businesses and buyers.
Forty-two buyers from 11 countries will be present, including Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Pakistan, the United States, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia. Some will also attend online, including a German entrepreneur.
"This event will certainly open up the global market for tea, coffee, and cocoa products from West Java. It will foster collaboration and cooperation among the 72 business communities present at the 19 booths, which we have curated previously," Nining added.
A talk show and short training sessions on exports, product workshops, and the release of two containers of coffee exported to Egypt will take place at WIITEX. Visitors can also enjoy coffee and tea while learning about the history of West Java's unique tea and coffee products.
Nining further stated that by 2025, West Java's cocoa exports will reach 72 million tons, valued at USD 680 million. Meanwhile, coffee exports will reach 5.3 million tons, generating USD 33.8 million. Meanwhile, tea will reach around 21 million tons, valued at USD 33 million.
Irman Adi Purwanto Moefthi, an Associate Expert Trade Analyst and Head of the Plantation Team at the Directorate General of National Export Development (DGNED), Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, added that the central government strongly supports the WIITEX activities because they will be parallel to the Trade Expo Indonesia activities in October.
"For your information, at last year's Trade Expo Indonesia, we achieved transactions worth more than USD 20 billion, and we certainly hope this will increase further in 2026," he said.
In fact, there will be a special pavilion for tea, cocoa, and coffee plantation products at the Trade Expo Indonesia next October.
"Of course, we also hope that the presence of foreign buyers will expand our export reach, not just to Malaysia but to many other countries. Countries in North Africa and the Middle East, such as Egypt, aren't just interested in coffee; tea also has significant market potential," he said.
