PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - The Garut Regency Government is preparing the Active and Fit Community Movement (GEMAR) to expand access to exercise for residents through Car Free Day, (23/8/2026).
The Garut Regency Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora) finalized preparations for activities through a cross-sector coordination meeting at the Dispora Office, (7/8/2026).
The meeting discussed traffic engineering, security, supporting facilities, health services, cleanliness, publications, and the implementation of mass gymnastics.
The activity involved the Traffic Unit (Satlantas) of the Garut Resort Police (Polres), the Military District Command (Kodim) 0611/Garut, and related regional apparatus.
The Head of the Garut Regency Youth and Sports Agency emphasized that cross-sector involvement is necessary to ensure that activities take place safely, orderly, comfortably, and provide benefits to the community.
GEMAR will be held in the Car Free Day (CFD) area on Jalan Ahmad Yani Garut with the main agenda being Mass Rhythmic Gymnastics.
This activity, which is open to the entire community, is expected to encourage exercise habits while utilizing public spaces for physical activity.
In addition to sports, GEMAR also opens up opportunities for economic empowerment through the involvement of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The involvement of MSMEs is expected to provide economic benefits while also revitalizing business activities around the activity area.
The Garut Regency Government invites the public to join GEMAR as a shared space to build active, healthy, fit, and productive lifestyle habits.
