PORTALJABAR, GARUT DISTRICT - Garut Regent Abdusy Syakur Amin accompanied the Commander of the III/Siliwangi Military Command, Major General TNI Kosasih, inaugurating the Garuda Bridge, Pameungpeuk, (26/8/2026).
The Garuda Bridge is located in Cikopo Hamlet, Pameungpeuk Village, Pameungpeuk District, Garut Regency, to speed up access for residents between areas.
The construction of the bridge is part of the strategic program of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, to accelerate the distribution of infrastructure.
For the community, the existence of the bridge reduces travel distance and facilitates access to educational facilities, health facilities, and economic activities.
Garut Regent Abdusy Syakur Amin expressed his appreciation for the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) for carrying out the bridge construction to meet the community's mobility needs.
Garut Regency has a vast area with 42 sub-districts, around 2.9 million residents, and more than 115 rivers.
"So, I think the Commander-in-Chief's decision to fulfill President Prabowo's wish to build a bridge is something we need. Moreover, this bridge helps the community with access, education, health, and the economy. So, we hope this bridge will be very helpful in all aspects of people's lives," said Abdusy Syakur Amin.
Abdusy Syakur Amin asked the Pameungpeuk Village Government and the community to maintain these public facilities so that their benefits last long.
"The village head asked me to please take care of this bridge, which I think was built with great effort by our army friends. Please maintain it," he said.
Meanwhile, Commander of the III/Siliwangi Military Command, Major General TNI Kosasih, explained that the bridge would reduce the distance and travel time for residents.
Previously, residents had to take a detour or use other modes of transportation to get to the other side.
Now, crossing between areas can be done in about two minutes, making people's mobility faster and more practical.
"Thank God, this is a gift from the President's program. Hopefully, the people can enjoy it. We, as successors in the region, the Regional Military Command (Kodam), the Regional Military Command (Korem) and the Regional Military Command (Kodim), are only continuing and building for the community," he said.
Kosasih also appreciated the community's participation in working together with TNI soldiers during the construction process of the Garuda Bridge.
