PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, said that Bandung City as the capital of West Java Province has very high dynamics, so it requires strong coordination and collaboration between government elements and security forces.

"Bandung is a highly dynamic city, not only for West Java but also nationally. Therefore, integrated communication and strong leadership are needed to keep the city safe and conducive," he said.

Farhan made this statement when attending the farewell ceremony of Bandung Police Chief, Kombes Pol Dr. Budi Sartono, which was held at The Grand Lodakara Bandung, Jalan Cicendo No. 29, Bandung City, Thursday (5/3/2026).

Farhan expressed his appreciation and gratitude for Budi Sartono's dedication during his tenure as Bandung Police Chief.

According to him, during Budi's leadership, the synergy between the police, local government, and various elements of society in the city of Bandung was very well established.

"We have always felt united in facing various challenges in Bandung, from political to social issues to security issues. We have been able to face all of these together thanks to good communication and coordination," said Farhan.

He assessed that Budi Sartono's leadership had provided many lessons, especially in building effective communication between institutions and maintaining security stability in the city of Bandung.

Farhan also expressed his sense of loss over Budi Sartono's departure from his position as Bandung Police Chief.

However, he hopes that the good relationship that has been established so far can continue even though he is working in a new place.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Bandung City DPRD, Asep Mulyadi, also expressed his appreciation for Budi Sartono's dedication and contribution in maintaining security and order in the city of Bandung.

"On behalf of the leadership and all members of the Bandung City DPRD, we express our highest appreciation to Mr. Budi for his dedication and devotion while serving in Bandung City," said Asep.

According to him, security stability is an important factor in supporting the success of regional development and improving community welfare.

The various efforts made by the Bandung City Police have had a positive impact on creating a safe, orderly, and conducive situation.

On the same occasion, Senior Commissioner of Police Budi Sartono expressed his gratitude to the Bandung City Government, the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), and the entire community for their support during his tenure as Bandung City Police Chief since April 2023.

He admitted that he was very impressed with the acceptance and cooperation given by various parties while carrying out his duties in the city of Bandung.

"I feel accepted as part of the Bandung community. The support from the local government, the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), and the entire community has been very helpful in carrying out our duties to maintain security in this city," he said.

Budi also highlighted the increasingly rapid changes in people's communication patterns, particularly through social media like TikTok. Therefore, police must be able to adapt to technological developments in responding to various information circulating in the community.

At the end of his speech, he apologized to all parties if during carrying out his duties there were words or actions that were unpleasant.

"If during duty there are harsh words, it is solely for the sake of the task. I apologize if there is something that is not pleasing," he said.

The farewell event took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, attended by elements of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), police officers, community leaders, and a number of other invited guests.
