PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - A dramatic 2-1 victory over PSM Makassar at the BJ Habibie Stadium on Sunday (17/5/2026), has put Persib Bandung on the verge of a great milestone in Indonesian football history.

Maung Bandung only needs a draw against Persijap Jepara on Saturday, May 23, 2026 to secure the title and record a hat-trick of league titles.

The atmosphere of victory was immediately felt in every corner of Bandung. Thousands of Bobotoh (fans) took to the streets to celebrate this important victory.

However, amidst the excitement of the residents, the Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, chose to go around the city to monitor security conditions rather than sit and watch the match.

"I've been scouting around Bandung since dusk. I didn't watch the Persib match. Instead, I watched the Persijap vs. Borneo match along the way. I circled around from Gedebage, Buahbatu, all the way to the police station," said Farhan at the Bandung Police Headquarters on Sunday (May 17, 2026).

Farhan stated that Persib's victory was more than just a regular match result. This moment presented an opportunity to create new history in national football.

"Let's all be grateful that Persib has made history by becoming the first Indonesian club to win a hat-trick of league titles," he said.

However, Farhan reminded that the euphoria of victory must be carried out in an orderly manner and not cause chaos.

He understands that the outpouring of joy from the Bobotoh is difficult to contain, but the safety and comfort of residents must remain a priority.

"We express our gratitude with undisturbed expressions of joy. We can't contain our euphoria. Let's celebrate Persib's victory together safely," he said.

According to Farhan, Persib's victory was also a special gift in the first year of the commemoration of Tatar Sunda Revival Day.

Therefore, he hopes that the victory celebrations can take place with pride without disturbing public order.

Ahead of the decisive match against Persijap, the Bandung City Government together with the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) have begun preparing anticipatory security measures.

A cross-agency coordination meeting is scheduled to take place next Tuesday.

"The Bandung City Forkopimda is more focused on security issues," said Farhan.

He ensured that all elements were on standby at various points in Bandung City, from security forces to emergency services.

"The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), and the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) have all been deployed. Firefighters (113), ambulances (119), and emergency services (112) are all on standby," he explained. (Bandung City Communications and Information Office/rka)
