PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Persib Bandung successfully secured three important points in the continuation of the 29th week of the 2024/2025 Indonesian League 1 after defeating Bali United, 2-1 at the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api (GBLA) Stadium, Friday (18/4/2025).

This dramatic victory strengthens Maung Bandung's position at the top of the standings with 61 points from 17 wins, 10 draws and only two losses throughout this season.

The match was fierce from the start. Bali United surprised the hosts through Irfan Jaya's goal in the 23rd minute. However, the fighting spirit of Bojan Hodak's troops did not diminish.

In the second half, Beckham Putra equalized in the 69th minute through a measured kick from outside the penalty box. The winning goal was finally scored by Brazilian defender Gustavo Franca in the 82nd minute.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan, who was present at the stadium, gave his support to the Pangeran Biru squad. He expressed his appreciation for the team's spirit and hard work, even though they were behind.

"Although we won by a narrow margin, the most important thing is to win. The two goals in the second half were very beautiful, although a bit late, but the result was maximum. Hopefully in the remaining two matches we can continue to win and ensure back to back titles," said Farhan.

Farhan also reminded the players to stay focused and not be careless in going through the rest of the season.

"Hard work is the key. And tonight, the man of the match is clearly Beckham Putra," he added.

When asked about his vow if Persib becomes champion again this season, Farhan answered with a smile.

"Wow, that's dark. Last year in 2014 I vowed to be bald, what will happen next? Let's see later. Hopefully I can make a good and exciting vow too," he said.

Meanwhile, Bandung Deputy Mayor Erwin also expressed his happiness over the victory. He even predicted the final score before the match started.

"Alhamdulillah, it was according to my prediction. This morning, a resident asked, I said God willing 2-1. Why? Because I kept on reciting dhikr," he said with a smile.

Erwin added that the power of prayers from millions of Persib supporters was an important factor that led the team to victory.

"In addition to maximum effort, Persib is encouraged by the prayers of the people of West Java. God willing, we can be champions," he said.

With this victory, Persib's hopes of securing the Liga 1 title for two consecutive seasons are wide open. (Diskominfo Kota Bandung/rka)
