PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Central Board of the Islamic Union (PP Persis) held the Persis Ramadan Expo 2026 which was held in the west parking area of Trans Studio Mall Bandung, Friday (6/4/2026).

The opening was attended by the Minister of Cooperatives of the Republic of Indonesia, Ferry Juliantono, the Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan and the General Chairperson of PP Persis, Jeje Zaenudin, along with organizational administrators and business actors from within Persis.

On that occasion, the Mayor of Bandung assessed that the existence of Persatuan Islam has a strategic position for the City of Bandung.

According to him, Persis is an Islamic organization that has a Central Leadership Council in the city of Bandung, so it is an important part of the city's identity.

"This is precisely the face of Bandung. It could be said to be the only Islamic organization with its central leadership in Bandung. Therefore, we must safeguard and support its existence," he said.

He added that Persis figures have long been known for their strong entrepreneurial traditions. This is evident in the number of clerics and Persis figures who also worked as traders.

"It's time for Persis to emerge as an entrepreneurial community. Islamic community organizations must achieve economic independence through business activities," he said.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Minister of Cooperatives, Ferry Juliantono, appreciated the holding of the Persis Ramadan Expo.

He assessed that this activity was able to raise optimism in developing an economy based on community organizations.

"We hope the Persis Ramadan Expo can become an annual event. Persis's MSME products have great potential to penetrate the cooperative's distribution network," he said.

The Persis Ramadan Expo 2026 is expected to be the first step in strengthening collaboration between the government, community organizations, and businesses in encouraging the growth of a people's economy based on cooperatives and community entrepreneurship.

Meanwhile, the General Chairperson of PP Persis, Jeje Zaenudin, explained that the Persis Ramadan Expo activity was a program formulated in the organization's National Working Conference.

This activity aims to bring together business actors from within Persis and introduce their products to the public.

According to Jeje, the expo initially featured businesspeople from West Java as a trial run. The three-day event capitalized on the momentum of Ramadan, particularly the community's growing needs ahead of Eid al-Fitr.

"This expo is a platform to connect businesses with the market. Many of the Persis community's products are high-quality but haven't been widely marketed," he explained.

He stated that more than 50 MSME products were showcased at the event, spanning agriculture, plantations, culinary, and even personal care and household products. In the skincare category alone, more than 20 products were showcased.

Persis also continues to build a sharia economic ecosystem through various programs, including the establishment of the Persis Halal Center and a halal inspection agency tasked with assisting with product certification.

"We want to transform the da'wah movement from mere preaching to a real civilizing movement through the economic activities of the community," said Jeje. (Bandung City Communications and Information Office/rka)
