PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - Acting Regent of Garut Barnas Adjidin together with the Commander of the Rapid Response Forces Command (Kopasgat) Air Marshal Yudi Bustami, officially started the construction of the AS-202 Bravo Aircraft Monument, marked by the laying of the first stone in front of the Kadungora District Office, Garut Regency, Monday (6/1/2025).

In his speech, Barnas expressed his appreciation to Dankopasgat for the trust given to Garut Regency as the location for the construction of this historical monument.

He emphasized that the monument will become a new strategic icon of Garut because it is located in the Simpang Tiga area, the tourist gateway to the TNI AU paragliding site. According to him, this place is often passed by tourists from Bandung towards the paragliding site which is the main attraction.

"And of course it will be easier if people coming to that place turn from the plane monument," he said.

He also asked the sub-district government and Garut Satpol PP to maintain cleanliness and regulate the location of street vendors (PKL) so that this area remains comfortable and attractive for visitors.

Air Marshal TNI Yudi Bustami said that the construction of the AS-202 Bravo aircraft monument is very beautiful and has the potential to support the development of aerospace sports in Garut.

"It's rare to find a place as beautiful as this, I think it's quite fantastic because it's in the mountains," he said.

Yudi hopes that this monument will not only be a symbol of the history of the Indonesian Air Force but also support the aerospace potential in the West Java region, especially Garut.

The Head of the Committee, Lieutenant Colonel Sus Aprizal explained that this monument was built using the AS-202 Bravo Aircraft, an initial training aircraft for prospective TNI AU pilots in the West Java Region and Garut Regency. The aircraft, which is currently still at Skatek 043 Lanud Adi Sucipto Yogyakarta, will soon be moved to Garut in the second week of the monument's construction.

"The construction of this monument has dimensions of 5x5 meters with a height reaching 7 meters from the road to the plane's wings. The construction process is targeted to be completed in 30 days," he said.

It is hoped that the AS-202 Bravo Aircraft Monument can become a new tourist attraction while supporting the development of aerospace potential in Garut Regency.
