PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City General Election Commission (KPU) continues to finalize preparations for the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections. One of the ongoing activities is the process of sorting and folding ballots held at the Bandung City KPU Warehouse, Jalan Ibrahim Adjie No. 441, Bandung.
This process is carried out with reference to strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure the quality and accuracy of the ballots that will be used on election day.
The sorting and folding process begins with the sorting and folding (sorlip) officer taking the ballot paper packaging box, which is then checked to ensure its type and condition.
Ballot papers that pass the inspection are folded according to the provisions, while damaged ballot papers are separated and stored in a special box.
KPU standards stipulate that when folding ballot papers, officers must ensure that the candidate pair's area is on the inside of the fold, while the candidate's polling station (TPS) identity is on the outside.
Ballots that are considered damaged have various criteria, such as unclear printing, wrinkles, mismatched marker colors, or physical damage such as tears and holes.
After being folded, the good ballot papers are put into groups of 20 sheets with two rubber bands, then stored back in the packaging cardboard.
To ensure that ballots are not mixed with other types of ballots or with damaged ballots, each box is packed separately and labeled according to the type of election.
This sorting and folding process ends with the recording and scanning of the QR code by KPU officers to enter the data into the SILOG Pilkada application.
This data will be a reference in the distribution of ballot papers at each TPS, supporting the smooth process of collecting votes.
The Bandung City KPU hopes that this sorting and folding activity can ensure that all ballots are ready and suitable for use in the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections. (Bandung City Communication and Information Service/Fauziah)
