PORTALJABAR, BOGOR REGENCY - Acting Regent of Bogor, Bachril Bakri together with the Deputy Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, Suntana held a coordination meeting in order to handle congestion in the Puncak area. The coordination meeting was held in Multipurpose Room I, Regional Secretariat Building, Cibinong (11/20/2024)

The coordination meeting also discussed preparations for organizing Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 transportation.

Bachril Bakri said, today we are discussing how to handle traffic jams in the Puncak area and preparations for organizing Christmas and New Year transportation.

There are seven congestion points in the Puncak area starting from Ciawi to Cisarua.

"We are discussing together to find solutions in an effort to handle congestion in the Puncak area. We provide several options as short-term and long-term solutions," said Bachril.

Bachril added, among others, the implementation of a one-way system, providing mass transportation to reduce the number of private vehicles entering Puncak, and continuing the construction of Puncak Route II as a long-term solution.

Deputy Minister of Transportation (Wamenhub) Suntana has prepared several strategies to overcome traffic jams that occur every weekend and long holidays in the Puncak tourist area. There are three strategies, short term, medium term, and long term.

"The long-term solution plan to overcome congestion on the Puncak route includes the construction of toll roads and alternative routes," said Suntana.

He said that the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) recommended the construction of a toll road connecting Caringin to Cisarua as well as accelerating the construction of the Puncak II route.

"We will also convey to the central government so that the acceleration of the construction of the Puncak II route can be realized immediately," he added.

Suntana continued, this step is considered urgent because as many as 37% of Puncak route users head to Cipanas and Cianjur, so efforts are needed to break up the flow of vehicles so that they are not concentrated in the Puncak area.

Suntana said the Ministry of Transportation also received a recommendation to build a flyover on the Puncak route as part of the congestion alleviation strategy. And the Acting Regent of Bogor fully supports the short, medium and long term strategies, including plans to build a flyover and a railway line in the future.

"This plan is expected to be an effective solution to reduce traffic jams that have been a chronic problem in the Puncak area, especially on weekends and holidays," concluded Suntana. (Diskominfo Kab. Bogor/Fauziah)
