
PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. GARUT - Acting (Pj.) Regent of Garut Barnas Adjidin attended a social service event with the Bandung Navy (AL) Base.
The activity took place at the Roudhotun Nawawi Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes), Lebak Agung Village, Karangpawitan District, Garut Regency, Sunday (12/5/2024).
This social service includes mass circumcisions, distribution of basic necessities, and the laying of the first stone for the construction of classrooms at the Roudhotun Nawawi Islamic Boarding School and the Al Ikhlas Mosque.
Chief of Naval Staff (KASAL) Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali appreciated the support from various parties in carrying out this social service.
"It has been implemented from yesterday until now, and it is hoped that this will benefit the people of Garut Regency, especially around the Roudhotun Nawawi Islamic Boarding School," he said.
He explained that construction of the classroom which is currently starting is named Mustafa Asmirah, as a tribute to KASAL's parents who come from Garut.
Apart from that, he expressed his gratitude to the religious figures who had prayed for his parents, where his own mother is from Garut and currently lives in Jakarta.
"Yes, God willing, Alhamdulillah (as the most beautiful gift), and I am also very grateful to Mr. Kyai and all the ulama for praying for my parents, both my father who is no longer there, then to my mother, hopefully they will stay healthy and stay healthy. "beneficial for the community, especially for the residents of Garut," he said.
TNI Admiral Muhammad Ali said that around 1,000 basic food packages were distributed, while around 30 children underwent mass circumcision.
He added that social service activities are routinely carried out in coastal areas, but this is the first time they have been carried out in Garut, the land of his parents' birth.
"But this is the first time, perhaps an area quite far from the sea, usually we are on the outermost islands on the coast, we were also in Cianjur when the earthquake occurred, and now because it is my parents' homeland, we are doing this here ," he said.
The Acting Regent of Garut emphasized that his presence at the event showed the regional government's commitment to supporting social activities. "The inauguration of the Mustafa - al-Mirah Building at the Roudhotun Nawawi Islamic Boarding School is a momentum to strengthen relations between the government, TNI and religious institutions in advancing Garut," he stressed.
