PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. GARUT - Acting (Pj.) Garut Regent Barnas Adjidin stated that the development of local products is believed to have a positive impact on Regional Original Income (PAD).
By imposing taxes on every product produced, Barnas believes that increasing local economic activity will help move the economic wheels of Garut Regency.
This was conveyed when leading a morning assembly at the Garut Regency Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) Office Yard, Jalan Otista, Tarogong Kidul District, Garut Regency, Tuesday (30/4/2024).
Barnas explained that this is indirectly related to the role of Bapenda, where for every Garut product produced, there will be a tax that can be collected so that Garut's Regional Original Income (PAD) can increase.
"Of course, by expanding business, we can collect taxes. Then, of course, if the taxes on people coming to Garut also increase, hotel occupancy and food will also increase," he continued.
According to Barnas, supporting local products such as Garut leather products not only makes a direct contribution to regional income, but also helps strengthen the identity and competitiveness of Garut products in the domestic and international markets.
This was proven when Barnas was invited by Poppy Dharsono, where he saw that Garut leather products were the highlight of the event. He saw Garut leather products being used by the models. According to him, the Garut product looks very good and can compete with other products.
"So then we will also develop and be invited to Italy to produce leather in Milan. In my opinion, we must also support this so that the world of leather in Garut Regency becomes a superior product," said Acting. Regent of Garut.
Barnas also highlighted the potential of the tourism sector as a significant source of income for Garut Regency.
According to him, increasing local economic activity will have a positive impact on the tourism sector, such as culinary, nature and fashion tourism, which will ultimately boost the regional economy.
"So, be it culinary tourism, nature tourism, or fashion tourism, other tourism will certainly boost the economy in Garut Regency," he said.
In front of Bapenda employees, Acting. The Regent of Garut expressed his appreciation to employees who have chosen to use Garutan leather product attributes as part of their support for local products.
Barnas invites all parties, including the community, business actors and local governments, to continue to support the economic growth of Garut Regency as a whole. (Diskominfo Garut/Revo)
