PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. GARUT - Acting Regent of Garut Barnas Adjidin officially opened the 11th Dandenpom Cup Ngabuburit Volleyball Championship 2024, which was held at the Military Police Detachment Headquarters (Denpom) III/2 Garut, Friday (23/2/2024).

The tournament, which was attended by 50 football clubs, competed for the Garut Regent's Rotating Cup and the Garut Dandenpom III/2 Permanent Cup.

Barnas in his speech expressed his gratitude because this tournament could continue to be held until now, moreover, this volleyball championship was held in order to improve ties and look for superior seeds for the best volleyball players in Garut Regency.

"I am sure that this is Denpom III/2 Garut's concern in supporting volleyball development in Garut Regency," he said.

Through this tournament, it is hoped that the seeds of outstanding volleyball athletes will be born, so that they can make the name of Garut in particular and Indonesia in general proud. He also hopes that both athletes and club officials who take part in this match can uphold sportsmanship and comply with all the provisions that have been set.

"To the organizing committee and referees I fully entrust this tournament, carry out this volleyball tournament well, precisely, firmly and fairly, so that it can run in an orderly, safe and smooth manner, thirdly to all parties who have supported the holding of this tournament I say thank you," he said.

Chairperson of the All Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI) of Garut Regency, Siti Mufattahah, believes that this championship is not just an ordinary volleyball competition, but rather a stage to showcase the talent, skills and fighting spirit of volleyball players from various regions in the Garut Regency area.

Dandenpom III/2 Garut Lt. Col. Cpm (K) Wiana Warsanah said that this championship was also held in the context of the 78th Anniversary of the Military Police Corps (POM) of the Army (AD) in 2024.

Apart from being held at Denpom III/2 Garut headquarters, this match, which uses a knockout system, also takes place at Garut University (Uniga).

"The final is here, and before fasting we will rest for 5 days, because before this (fasting), then after (starting) fasting we will start again, because of the Ngabuburit event," he said. (Diskominfo Garut/UPI)
