PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. GARUT - Acting Regent of Garut, Barnas Adjidin monitored the location of the landslide disaster in Sukarame Village, Caringin District, Regency (6/3/2024).

Barnas said that the southern part of Garut was considered very vulnerable to disasters, especially landslides. This can be seen from the contour of the land, which is very prone to landslides, especially during the rainy season.

"This is what I'm worried about, it will cause loss of property and loss of life, if property can be found, it will be difficult for the soul," he said.

The Regent of Garut asked all levels of Regional Work Units (SKPD), sub-districts and villages to collaborate in anticipating disasters in the southern Garut region.

According to him, areas that are prone to disasters must be given attention so that undesirable things do not happen.

"And I see that there is also human activity other than nature, for example, there is fraudulent mining, or reforestation that is not paid attention to, so just looking for profit like this, it should not be this rice field, above this, but it should be hard plants that can withstand it. landslide," he said.

Barnas appealed to the public to always be alert, especially during the rainy season which is prone to landslides. Barnas also reminded the public of the dangers of living in residences located near cliffs as they are prone to landslides.

"Especially with continuous rainfall like this, the water will be heavy, if it becomes blocked it could cause a large landslide and this house could be closed if a large landslide occurs," he said. (Diskominfo Garut/Fauziah)
