PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting West Java Regional Secretary Taufiq Budi Santoso reminded the fighting spirit of the Sapta Taruna Heroes so that they can be an inspiration for all members of the West Java Water Resources Service in carrying out their duties.

Priority infrastructure development that is implemented must also be able to provide direct beneficial impacts for society, as well as encourage increased national competitiveness.

This was stated by Taufiq Budi Santoso when opening a series of activities commemorating the 78th West Java Provincial Public Work Service Day 2023 at Sport Jabar Arcamanik, Bandung City, Monday (27/11/2023).

"Sapta Taruna is history that we must continue to use as guidance and learning material for all of us. The sacrifices that have been made will of course be part of carrying out our duties," said Taufiq.

The background to the commemoration of Public Works Service Day begins with a heroic story 78 years ago, on December 3 1945 to be precise, as many as 21 PU employees were tasked with guarding the PU Department building in Bandung, which is now Gedung Sate. They had to fight against attacks by Allied troops.

In this incident, seven PU employees died, namely Didi Hardianto Kamarga, Muchtaruddin, Soehodo, Rio Soesilo, Soebengat, Ranu, and Soerjono. Later, their names were remembered as Sapta Taruna Heroes.

"Don't lose this spirit and through the series of activities commemorating Public Service Day, we can understand more about the meaning of the sacrifice of the Sapta Taruna Heroes," he added.

He also appreciated the event which was considered productive and had an impact on the interests of society, such as sporting events and social service in the form of blood donations and mass circumcisions.

"I appreciate what the committee has done, especially this year which is commanded by the West Java Water Resources Service," said Taufiq in his speech.

Finally, Taufiq congratulated the 78th Public Works Service Day commemoration to all personnel of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing and the West Java Water Resources Service, who in carrying out infrastructure development programs in 2023 can prioritize the values of worship for the benefit of the community .

"Once again, congratulations on all the celebrations of this 78th service day with various kinds of productive activities for the benefit of society which are extraordinary because it will be an effort to seek worship and help people who are less fortunate," he said.

After the opening ceremony, Acting West Java Regional Secretary Taufiq Budi Santoso together with the Head of the West Java SDA Service Dikky Ahmad Sidik inspected and greeted the people who took part in blood donation and mass circumcision activities.
