PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting Mayor of Bandung, A. Koswara emphasized the importance of improving interfaith communication, as a step to strengthen friendship and maintain harmony in society.

This was conveyed during the 2024 Bandung City Interfaith Harmony Gathering activity which took place at the Mutiara Hotel and Convention, Jalan Kebon Kawung, Cicendo District, Wednesday (11/12/2024).

According to him, discussions and communication between religious figures should not be limited to official forums, but should also be carried out informally to create a more intensive and intimate dialogue.

"Meetings like this are important, but more than that, we need to increase discussions in an informal setting. For example, through casual meetings like coffee mornings. In this way, interfaith communication becomes more intense and effective," said Koswara.

Furthermore, Koswara explained, good communication between religious leaders is key to maintaining harmony and detecting potential conflicts in society.

Interfaith dialogue can function as an early warning system that helps governments and communities anticipate potential divisions.

"Religious and community leaders have high sensitivity to the situation of society. Through regular discussions, we can map existing issues and find solutions together before the problem grows bigger," he explained.

Ahead of the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) celebrations, Koswara also asked for support from religious and community leaders to ensure security and comfort in the city of Bandung.

He hopes that with strong synergy, the end of year celebrations can take place peacefully and harmoniously.

On that occasion, A. Koswara also appreciated the existence of the Tolerance Village in Bandung City as real evidence of the success of harmony between religious communities.

"Tolerance Village is an example that we must develop more widely. This is a real manifestation of tolerance and harmony that can be an inspiration for other areas," he said.

Koswara hopes that this kind of social gathering can become a routine agenda, both formally and informally.

"Silaturahmi is the foundation of togetherness. With consistent communication, there is no problem that we cannot solve together," he concluded. (Bandung City Communication and Information Service/Revo)
