PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting (Pj.) Mayor of Bandung Bambang Tirtoyuliono is optimistic that the voter participation rate in the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada can reach 90 percent.

This was expressed by Bambang after leading the Neutrality Call for ASN Employees within the Bandung City Government during the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections at the Bandung City Hall Plaza, Monday (29/7/2024).

"The level of voter participation in the last February elections was 82.9 percent. Of course, in the simultaneous regional elections, we must have a target of at least 90 percent. There are many different variables between holding the February 2024 elections and the upcoming regional elections, " said Bambang.

Bambang said, according to data from the Bandung City Population and Civil Registration Office, the population of Bandung City in semester 1 of 2024 reached 2,579,837 with a total of 1,896,389 voters in the upcoming regional elections.

Apart from that, 436,288 people or 23 percent of them were first-time voters. Meanwhile, the number of TPS in Bandung City reached 3,576 TPS, a decrease compared to the number of TPS in the 2024 election which reached 7,424 TPS.

"We also have to respond to this data. We have approximately 3 months to prepare it," he said.

Apart from that, Bambang also said that he would immediately activate the Pilkada Desk to support and carry out monitoring, inventory problems, and provide suggestions for resolving problems with the implementation of the regional elections to the Pilkada organizers.

"All Regional Governments must form special teams during the Pilkada, to oversee and provide assistance and monitor any irregularities as we read during the Neutrality Pledge," he said.

Finally, Bambang also appreciated the performance of all parties in holding the 2024 elections in Bandung City which ran safely and conducively. He hopes that this success can be repeated during the regional elections on November 27 2024.
