PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting Mayor of Bandung Bambang Tirtoyuliono believes that the implementation of the Braga Free Vehicle (BFV) area at weekends will make the atmosphere of one of the icons of Bandung City much more comfortable.

He considered that Jalan Braga is a legendary area that attracts tourists to the city of Bandung. However, conditions were congested in the Jalan Braga area.

"We are trying to restore the legend and heritage of Jalan Braga. So anyone who wants to enjoy Jalan Braga can enjoy this area to the fullest," said Bambang in Bandung Answers, Monday (29/4/2024).

Entering the initial stages of implementation, he believes this agenda will definitely have challenges. Moreover, Jalan Braga is well known and is usually traversed by two- and four-wheeled drivers 24 hours a day.

Even so, Bambang said that the Bandung City Government was trying various efforts to reduce the impact of BFV running, such as the impact of traffic jams or parking lots in the area.

Bambang said that government offices in the Braga area could be used as parking lots during the BFV.

Several parking lots have been prepared, including in the Bandung City Hall area, Dewi Sartika Park, West Java Water Resources Service, West Java Province Highways and Spatial Planning Service, BJB Bank, Bandung Bank, Bandung Square Basement and Banceuy Street Post Office .

The on-street parking provided includes the Viaduc area, Jalan Cikapundung and Jalan Braga Short.

"Later, a little traffic engineering will also be implemented, to reduce potential queues of vehicles," he said.

Apart from parking arrangements and traffic engineering, the Bandung City Government through the Department of Transportation (Dishub) has also prepared the Bandung Tour on Bus (Bandros) as a form of transportation that can be used by tourists staying at hotels in the Bandung City area.

Later there will be three routes that will be passed by Bandros, including:

1. Dago Route - Jalan Braga, crossing along Jalan Ir. H. Djuanda headed to the Kedathon Hotel.
2. Pasteur Route - Jalan Braga, cross Jalan Pasteur, then turn onto Jalan Cihampelas, Jalan Wastukancana, and ends in the Braga area.
3. TSM route - Jalan Braga, crossing Jalan Gatot Subroto, heading to Jalan Asia Afrika, and ending in the Braga area.

"We are trying to catch tourists who want to enjoy the city of Bandung via mass transportation such as Bandros," he said.

Bambang is optimistic that BFV will have a positive impact, especially for tourist comfort and also the positive image of Jalan Braga, which has long been known as an iconic area in the city of Bandung.

"We will continue to carry out evaluations. And of course we believe that Braga Free Vehicle will have a positive impact," he said.

Implementation of BFV will begin on May 4-5 2024. Technically, the Jalan Braga area will be free of vehicles from Saturday at 00.00 WIB until Sunday night at 23.59 WIB.
