PLN Ready to Restore Electricity Affected by Floods and Urges Residents to Be Aware of Electrical Dangers

PORTALJABAR, SUKABUMI REGENCY - PT PLN (Persero) Sukabumi Customer Service Implementation Unit (UP3) moved quickly to restore electricity supply in areas affected by landslides, landslides and floods. The high rainfall conditions since Tuesday, December 3, 2024 to Wednesday, December 4 that hit the Sukabumi area caused waterlogging in several locations and landslides.

PLN took steps by carrying out temporary blackouts to ensure the safety of the public and the electricity network as well as quick action in handling electrical disturbances.

PLN UP3 Sukabumi Manager, Yuniar Budi Satrio, said that the recovery process was carried out in stages, with priority given to areas that had been declared safe.

"We immediately mobilized a team to check the condition of the electricity network and repair the electricity network due to the natural disaster that occurred. Public safety remains our main concern. PLN continues to be on standby to secure the electricity supply and monitor areas affected by floods and landslides," he said.

PLN UP3 Sukabumi noted that there were 1,258 substations affected by the flood, of which as of 14.30, 207 substations were already on.

The Head of Cikembar District, Anna Rudiananugraha, said that due to the landslides, flooding and landslides in his area, his party immediately contacted PLN.

"When the flood started, I immediately contacted PLN officers. They immediately came to the location, checked the electricity conditions and then turned it off from the substation. They said so that there would be no short circuits. Hopefully the flood will recede and dry up soon so that the electricity can be turned on again. Thank you PLN," explained Anna.

PLN UP3 Sukabumi also continues to coordinate with the local government, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and other related agencies to ensure optimal handling of floods and landslides. This cooperation aims to accelerate the process of normalizing electricity services in the affected areas.

General Manager of PLN West Java Main Distribution Unit (UID), Agung Murdifi, said that PLN continues to be alert and ready to monitor the conditions of areas affected by the flood.

"To prioritize public safety, in some areas electricity cannot yet be supplied because the flood is still high. PLN will immediately restore electricity to customers after ensuring that all distribution networks are safe to be operated again and appeal to the public to remain careful and comply with safety guidelines during the recovery process," he concluded.

Meanwhile, Acting Head of BPBD West Java Province, Anne Hermadianne expressed her gratitude for PLN's quick response in dealing with the disaster in Sukabumi.

"I would like to thank our friends at PLN who have responded quickly to secure electricity during flood conditions and are also ready to restore electricity supply to locations that have receded. Because of course the electricity supply is very much needed for residents to resume their activities," said Anne.
