PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - Acting Regent of Bekasi Asep Surya Atmaja invited the public to utilize the Transjabodetabek Modern Transportation service on the Cawang–Jababeka Cikarang route because the fares are cheap and can reduce travel costs for Bekasi Regency workers to Jakarta (12/2/2026).

Asep conveyed the Bekasi Regency Government's support for the launch of the route during the Launching of Modern Transjabodetabek Cawang Sentral–Cikarang Jababeka Transportation at Hollywood Junction Jababeka Cikarang, North Cikarang District.

Asep said this service is a form of support from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government for buffer areas as well as a concrete solution to reduce the burden of transportation costs on the community.

"Thank God, we're grateful to DKI. This is very helpful because the fares are cheap. From 5:00 to 7:00 a.m., it's only Rp2,000, and after that, it's Rp3,500," said Asep.

Asep said that based on dialogue with residents, previously some people had to spend up to IDR 75,000 for a round trip to Jakarta.

He said that the cost could now be reduced to around IDR 5,500 with the Transjabodetabek system.

"Earlier, I heard from mothers in the car that their children would pay Rp 75,000 to return home in the morning to Jakarta. Now it's cheaper, only Rp 2,000 and Rp 3,500. So, this is really helpful," he said.

Asep emphasized that the Bekasi Regency Government still has homework to do in preparing feeder or feeder transportation from residential areas to Transjabodetabek bus stops so that this service can be accessed more widely.

"Now, Bekasi Regency just needs to build feeder stations. From residential areas or remote homes, they can be picked up and connected to mass transportation," he said.

Asep also encouraged the expansion of bus stop development beyond certain areas so that people from various areas of Bekasi Regency can more easily access mass transportation.

"In the future, I want bus stops to be built outside the area, not just inside," he added.

Asep said the Cawang-Cikarang route is still in the trial stage and additional routes could be opened if public demand increases.

"This is just a trial run. There are other possible routes," he said.

Asep stated that the Bekasi Regency Government would conduct further coordination and convey its direct appreciation to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government for this service.

"This is a stroke of good fortune for us. I'll also be going to Jakarta to meet the Governor to express my gratitude," he said.

Deputy Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency, Ujang Hermawan, said that Transjabodetabek will continue to be developed to meet community needs and reduce the use of private vehicles.

"The TransJabodetabek (Jakarta Metropolitan Area) is continuing to be developed. The demand for this route is quite long, around 89 kilometers. Operational costs are also quite high," explained Ujang.

Ujang emphasized that this service has the potential to reduce traffic congestion because people entering Jakarta will no longer rely on private vehicles.

"If this reduces the impact of private vehicle use, it will be very helpful. People entering Jakarta will no longer use private vehicles," he said.

Ujang added that the development of Transjabodetabek is part of Jakarta's preparations to become a global city, including plans to open the Blok M–Airport route which is currently being coordinated with Angkasa Pura and the Ministry of Transportation.

"The standard rate is still Rp3,500. The Governor will determine the policy later," he concluded. (Bekasi Regency Communications and Information Office/bhf)
