PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - Acting Regent of Bekasi Asep Surya Atmaja inaugurated the Garuda Suspension Bridge connecting Serang Baru District and Setu District to facilitate access for residents (9/3/2026).
The inauguration took place in Bojong Hamlet, Kertarahayu Village, Setu District, together with elements of the Bekasi Regency Regional Leadership Coordination Forum.
The bridge was built through the 200 Garuda Bridge construction program in various regions of Indonesia.
The bridge construction program was initiated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, through the Ministry of Defense together with the Indonesian National Army.
President Prabowo said the construction of hundreds of bridges is proof of the state's commitment to opening up public access.
He believes that connecting bridges like this have a strategic role for areas that previously had limited infrastructure.
Prabowo emphasized that the government must be present down to the village level so that people do not experience difficulties due to limited access.
Asep said the bridge construction would provide direct benefits to Bekasi Regency residents.
He explained that the bridge facilitates public mobility and supports residents' social and economic activities.
Asep added that this inauguration was part of the simultaneous inauguration of hundreds of suspension bridges throughout Indonesia.
The Bekasi Regency Government hopes that the bridge will be used by the community to facilitate daily activities.
He also invited residents to maintain and care for the bridge facilities so that they can be used in the long term.
The existence of this connecting bridge is expected to improve connectivity between the Serang Baru and Setu areas.
