
PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. GARUT - Garut Police held a Traffic Forum Coordination Meeting in order to prepare security measures for Christmas and New Year 2024 in Garut Regency, Thursday (7/12/2023).
The event which took place at the Garut Police Office was chaired by the Head of Garut Police, AKBP Rohman Yonky Dilatha.
In his briefing, Rohman conveyed plans to organize a centralized candle operation in Garut Regency as part of security efforts for Christmas and New Year. This operation will involve elements of the TNI and other stakeholders in the Garut Regency area.
"We will also carry out consolidation and this is the first step for consolidation related to Christmas and New Year security, especially on Garut Regency highways," he said.
Apart from that, Rohman emphasized the need for synergy between all parties involved, including the TNI and other stakeholders. He hopes that there will be no gaps or overlaps in carrying out tasks in the field.
"So that there can be synergy and there will be no sectoral egos or overlapping tasks which could later lead to inefficiencies in personnel in the field and in the implementation of tasks in the field," he said.
Head of the Garut Police Traffic Unit (Kasatlantas), Inspector Aang Andi Suhandi, added that traffic engineering will be carried out taking into account the situation and conditions in the field. If the tourist attraction can still accommodate visitors, no traffic flow engineering will be carried out.
"If a tourist attraction, for example in Rancabuaya, is full, then we will divert it to another tourist attraction such as Santolo or Sayangheulang," he said.
Head of the Garut Regency Transportation Service, Satria Budi, said that this activity aims to coordinate and communicate steps related to providing comfort and security to the community ahead of Christmas and New Year. He also emphasized securing vital objects such as places of worship.
"Facing the holidays, we are also preparing tourist attractions to provide security, service and comfort to guests who come to Garut Regency, especially those who will visit tourist attractions," he said.
In accordance with directions from BPBD Garut, he appealed to the public to be careful when traveling considering the weather conditions which have now entered the rainy season. (Diskominfo Garut/UPI)
