PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - One form of protection from the Bandung City Government for the poor is by rolling out activities to repair uninhabitable houses, aka Rutilahu.

In 2024, the Bandung City Government will distribute stimulus assistance to 1,719 uninhabitable houses, one of which is in the Program for Increasing the Role of Women Towards Healthy and Prosperous Families (P2WKSS).

In the 2024 P2WKSS program, Sukagalih sub-district became the locus of activities. A total of 9 houses were given home improvement stimulus.

One of the beneficiary residents, Hendar (50), expressed his gratitude to the Bandung City Government.

Now the residence he lives in is better and habitable.

"Thank God, I received assistance from the government, I am grateful and thankful to the Bandung City Government," said Hendra when met at his residence.

He said this is very beneficial for the family. With a more representative residence can be felt.

"It's more comfortable now, and it's also beneficial for my wife and children," he said.

With a newly renovated building area of 30 square meters, Hendra said it was very comfortable and the work was done quickly.

"It took about 1.5 months to increase, thank God it happened quickly. The first floor can be used as a family room and the top floor can be used for drying clothes," he explained.

Meanwhile, Sukagalih Village Head, Annisa Dewi revealed, in addition to home repairs, there are various other activities carried out at P2WKSS. Starting from catering training, sewing, make-up to digital marketing.

"Various OPDs help provide training and outreach so that the community here is more knowledgeable and able to compete," he said.

However, Dewi continued, one thing that is really felt in P2WKSS is the assistance for repairing uninhabitable houses.

Apart from the government budget, community self-reliance is also very high to help people in need.

"Thank God, the residents here are united and were able to collect Rp. 500 million in funds for people in need," he said.
