PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Head of the Bandung City Youth and Sports Agency, Sigit Iskandar, appreciated the student contingent that led Bandung City to become the overall champion of the 2026 West Java Region IV Student Sports Week with 17 gold medals, six silver medals, and one bronze medal (27/6/2026).
These results ensure that Bandung City's student athletes will advance to the 15th West Java Regional Student Sports Week.
Sigit Iskandar said this achievement is proof that the development of student athletes is consistent and has produced impressive achievements.
"This overall championship win in Region IV is a true reflection of our discipline, hard work, and student athlete development system, which continues to be on track. I fully appreciate the hard work of the athletes, the dedicated hands of the coaches, and the officials who have successfully upheld the City of Champions' reputation," he said.
Sigit reminded all athletes, coaches, and officials not to be complacent because the next challenge awaits at the XV West Java Regional Student Sports Week.
"We've passed the qualifying phase with very satisfying results, and we've secured our ticket to Popda. Let's use this momentum as encouragement to immediately refine our training program. The real challenge lies in Popda XV, and we must be ready to prove ourselves again," he said.
The pencak silat sport contributed the most medals with 12 gold, five silver, and one bronze medal.
The sport of basketball also contributed two gold medals through the men's and women's teams, who both won the championship title.
Meanwhile, indoor volleyball contributed one gold and one silver medal, while football and sepak takraw each won one gold medal.
