Singapore — The West Java Provincial Government won the Most Promising Muslim-Friendly Region of the Year award at the Halal In Travel Global Summit 2026 in Singapore (June 18, 2026) for its success in building an international-standard Muslim-friendly tourism ecosystem that provides added value to the regional tourism sector.
The award is given to regions in member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation that demonstrate the most promising progress in developing a Muslim-friendly tourism ecosystem based on various assessment indicators.
The assessment includes the availability of Muslim-friendly services and facilities, government support, the readiness of the tourism industry such as hotels, restaurants, destinations, and business operators, promotion to the Muslim tourist market, and innovation in tourism development programs.
Head of the West Java Tourism and Culture Office, Iendra Sofyan, received the award and presented strategies for developing Muslim-friendly tourism in West Java to participants of the international forum.
Iendra expressed his appreciation to all tourism industry players, the people of West Java, West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, and CrescentRating for their support in developing Muslim-friendly tourism in West Java.
"I would like to express my gratitude to the tourism business players in West Java for their support. I also extend my gratitude to the people of West Java, the Governor of West Java, the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, and of course, CrescentRating (the event initiator)," he said.
"This award is dedicated to all tourists visiting West Java. It also serves to motivate the improvement and development of Muslim tourism in West Java, and of course, to support the national-level assessment. Please come to West Java Province. Thank you very much," he added.
The award won by West Java is part of the Global Muslim Travel Index Awards category, which is compiled based on Mastercard-CrescentRating's assessment of Muslim-friendly tourist destinations in various countries.
This achievement is expected to strengthen West Java's tourism competitiveness at the global level, increase the confidence of Muslim tourists, and open up greater tourism and investment opportunities for the region.
