PORTALJABAR, BOGOR CITY - The Mayor of Bogor, Dedie A. Rachim, stated that Bogor City is ready to become one of the first cities in Indonesia to develop a Waste to Energy Plant facility or Waste Processing into Electrical Energy (PSEL).
This was conveyed by Dedie when attending the XVIII National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of the Association of Indonesian City Governments (APEKSI) in 2026 in Medan City, Wednesday (1/7/2026).
Dedie said that the Bogor City Government has prepared all stages of PSEL development over the past year and in the near future the project will enter the groundbreaking stage.
"Bogor City is changing quite rapidly. One of the most exciting things is that we will have two waste-to-energy processing facilities. Preparations have been underway for the past year, and the groundbreaking ceremony will soon take place," he said.
According to Dedie, the construction of the two PSEL facilities is part of the Bogor City Government's commitment to solving the waste problem comprehensively, from upstream to downstream.
He explained that the presence of PSEL would be an important milestone in realizing a modern, environmentally friendly waste management system that also produces renewable energy.
"This is part of an effort to support the policy direction of waste management from upstream to downstream, ensuring it can be completed sustainably. Thank God, Bogor City has the opportunity to be one of the first cities to convert waste into electrical energy," he said.
Dedie hopes that the construction of this facility can serve as an example for other regions and strengthen Bogor City's position as a city that continues to present innovations in sustainable development.
