PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) continues to finalize various preparations for the reactivation of Husein Sastranegara Airport. In addition to infrastructure improvements, the city government is also developing a Bandung branding concept in the airport area and a shuttle service to facilitate passenger mobility.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said the reactivation of Husein Sastranegara Airport is an important momentum to increase the attractiveness of Bandung City, including in the education sector.

"Bandung City has now received reactivation from Husein Sastranegara Airport. Hopefully, this will attract more people to attend school and college in Bandung," said Farhan on Wednesday (June 15, 2026).

Currently, Farhan continued, the government is still waiting for confirmation of flight schedules from each airline, which is still awaiting permits from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

Nevertheless, the flight route development plan is quite promising. It is estimated that there will be around 10 to 11 destinations, including three international routes.

In terms of regional preparedness, Farhan confirmed that Bandung City has made various improvements. Roads leading to the airport have been repaired, and parking management at Husein Sastranegara Air Force Base has been coordinated with professional operators.

According to him, currently there are two main focuses that the Bandung City Government is preparing, namely presenting the distinctive identity of Bandung City in the airport area and preparing shuttle services for passengers.

"We now need to confirm two things with the city of Bandung. First, the design of the Bandung city branding at the airport, and also the possibility of finding a partner to provide shuttle services," he said.

Farhan explained that providing a shuttle service requires thorough research, from selecting an operator and fleet capacity to determining service routes. Therefore, the city government will open up opportunities for collaboration with the private sector.

For the branding concept, Farhan wants every passenger who arrives at Husein Airport to immediately feel the distinctive feel of Bandung City from the moment they first set foot in the terminal.

"When people land in Bandung, they enter the airport and want to see the city right away. That's what we're thinking about," he said.

In addition, Farhan also said that the official name of the airport is now Husein Sastranegara Bandung International Airport, according to the determination of InJourney Airports.

Meanwhile, the Bandung City Government is also paying attention to the environmental conditions around the airport. This includes efforts to control waste and open burning activities that could potentially compromise flight safety.

"We are currently working on this together. Aviation security and I are also making rounds around the airport to ensure there are no fires that could disrupt flights," he said.
