PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - A replica of a traditional Sundanese village will be built in Kertajati District, Majalengka Regency. The replica of the Sundanese Traditional Village will be an area representing around 13 traditional villages in West Java and Banten. The initiator and Dean of FISIP Unpas Dr. Kunkunrat explained that the initial idea for creating a Sunda Village was due to concerns about the current condition of traditional villages.

"Slowly there are several traditional villages whose way of life is starting to be threatened, inseparable from the influence of social media. Gradually the people have been influenced by technology, for example gadgets. They now prefer to play on social media rather than focus on maintaining their customs," said Kunkun, met at on the sidelines of the provision of the Research and Practice (Ristek) program for students of the FISIP Public Administration Study Program, Unpas Lengkong campus, Bandung City, Thursday (13/6/2024).

From these concerns, according to Kunkunrat, the idea emerged to establish a Sundanese village which would become a showcase for traditional villages in Tatar Pasundan. Tit-for-tat from the West Java Provincial Government.

"Mr Bey is providing 50 hectares of land in Kertajati District, Majalengka Regency for Sunda Village, while the construction funds will be provided by BUMN Minister Erick Tohir," explained Kunkun.

Although he cannot confirm the construction time, Kunkunrat stated that Kampung Sunda will become a kind of 'Mini Park' for West Java, and could become a cultural tourism destination.

"The residents will be recruited from local residents with traditional knowledge first, they are a kind of workers who are divided into several 24-hour shifts, while the management of Sunda Village will be from Unpas itself, assisted by several experts and cultural practitioners," he concluded.
