PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - Acting Regent of Bekasi, Asep Surya Atmaja, emphasized that public health is a priority for the Bekasi Regency Government. He made this statement during the inauguration of the Cikarang BPJS Kesehatan Branch Office on Jalan KH. Raden Ma'mun Nawawi, Sukadami Village, South Cikarang District, Wednesday (April 29, 2026).
He said that Bekasi Regency, as the largest industrial area in Southeast Asia, with a population of 3.4 million people, requires a strong and sustainable health insurance system.
According to him, the existence of BPJS Health must be a top priority for local governments so that the entire community is fully protected.
"Bekasi Regency is a very powerful magnet, with thousands of companies and a significant economic turnover. I want the people of Bekasi Regency, wherever they go, to at least have health insurance. Not just their assets, but their health," said Asep.
He explained that health is the most valuable investment for the community. Therefore, he asked all relevant regional agencies to ensure there are no further issues of outstanding healthcare payments that could hinder public services.
"If you're sick, I want people to simply bring their KIS or BPJS card and be able to get treatment anywhere. Don't let debt hinder service. Resolve and streamline the situation, because this concerns the public's rights," he stressed.
Asep also revealed that the Bekasi Regency Government has allocated a budget to settle its payment obligations to BPJS Kesehatan. Most of the obligations have been paid, with the remainder awaiting settlement from the provincial government to ensure optimal service delivery.
"Rp 163 billion has been paid, and there's only a little left. If the province pays around Rp 50 billion, we've prepared Rp 27 billion. The money is already there; it just needs to be paid. I don't want any more arrears in the future," he said.
He also asked hospitals, clinics, and community health centers to continue to prioritize humanitarian services and not refuse patients simply because of administrative issues.
He said that public safety must be the main priority compared to mere procedures.
"Please accept the patient first, don't risk lives over regulatory concerns. If the public needs treatment and care, that should come first," he stressed.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Cikarang BPJS Kesehatan Branch, Erwin Fadillah, said that the construction of this new building was motivated by the increasing need for public services and the capacity of the previous office which was no longer adequate to serve JKN participants.
Previously, the Cikarang BPJS Kesehatan branch operated in a rented space in a shophouse in Cikarang Central City. With the ever-increasing number of participants, more representative facilities were needed to optimize administrative services.
"This building represents an improvement in services at the Cikarang BPJS Kesehatan Branch. With this new building, we hope to provide more convenient, faster, and optimal service to participants," said Erwin.
As of March 31, 2026, JKN coverage in Bekasi Regency had reached 98.63 percent, or 3,421,704 people. This achievement was supported by 6,293 business entities, 45 Advanced Referral Health Facilities (FKRTL), and 208 Primary Health Facilities (FKTP).
According to Erwin, with a large number of participants, the existence of a representative branch office is an important need to support fast, convenient, and quality services for the people of Bekasi Regency.
Similarly, the Director of Human Resources and General Affairs of BPJS Kesehatan, Vetty Yulianty Permanasari, added that the construction of this new building is part of BPJS Kesehatan's strategic steps in anticipating the growth of JKN participants in the Bekasi Regency area and its surroundings.
Vetty explained that the new building was designed with eco-friendly and sustainable green office principles through the use of natural lighting, optimal ventilation systems, energy efficiency, and the implementation of digital-based services to reduce paper use.
"Through more representative facilities, we hope to provide services to the public more quickly, easily, and conveniently," said Vetty.
Furthermore, this building upholds the principle of inclusive service by providing accessible access for people with disabilities. This is part of BPJS Kesehatan's commitment to providing equal services to all levels of society.
"This building is not only designed to be environmentally friendly, but also ensures inclusive and accessible services for the entire community. We hope its presence will strengthen collaboration in supporting the sustainability of the National Health Insurance (JKN) Program," Vetty concluded.
