PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi stated that public trust in the medical world and higher education institutions needs to be rebuilt following the rape case committed by a doctor participating in the Specialist Doctor Education Program (PPDS) at Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital, Bandung.
"This is not just a criminal case, but also a matter of public trust in institutions that should be at the forefront of service and education," said Dedi after attending the 1446 H Eid al-Fitr gathering of the Pasundan Family at Graha Pasundan, Bandung, Saturday (12/4/2025).
KDM – Dedi Mulyadi's nickname – said that the West Java Provincial Government fully supports the ongoing legal steps and encourages reform in the field of medical education to ensure that similar incidents do not recur.
According to Dedi, strict punishment must be given to the perpetrators. Then, related universities and hospitals are asked to immediately impose sanctions on the parties involved and conduct a thorough evaluation of the recruitment system for prospective doctors.
"Universities or hospitals must not be slow in evaluating this case, to restore public trust, that is the most important thing," said Dedi.
