PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - The Garut Regency Government distributed emergency response assistance and compensation to fire victims in Kadongdong Village, Banjarwangi District (23/6/2026).
The disaster affected five families with a total of 18 people and resulted in the deaths of two residents.
The Head of the Garut Regency Social Service, Marlinda Siti Hana, handed over aid together with the Head of Banjarwangi District, Asep Harsono, and village government officials.
Logistical assistance is distributed to meet the basic needs of affected families during the emergency response period.
The Garut Regency Government also provided condolence compensation of IDR 2 million to the victim's family in accordance with the direction of the Regent and Deputy Regent of Garut.
Marlinda said that the temporary suspicion is that the fire was triggered by an electrical short circuit that occurred at around 02.00 WIB.
"Earlier, around Dzuhur, maybe around 11-12 o'clock, we visited the victim's family, accompanied by the sub-district head and his staff, the village head, we from the Social Service along with TKSK, PKH assistants in the area along with Tagana Banjarwangi District, to hand over aid from the local government," he said.
Marlinda appealed to regional officials and the public to immediately report any disaster incidents so that aid can be distributed more quickly.
"And to keep this going, we must continue to report disaster incidents to the Social Services so that we can quickly provide assistance as directed by the Regent and Deputy Regent to respond quickly to public reports," he said.
Banjarwangi Sub-district Head, Asep Harsono, appreciated the Garut Regency Government's quick response in helping families affected by the fire.
"In this regard, on behalf of the local government, I, the sub-district head of Banjarwangi, would like to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation, especially to the Regent of Garut through the Head of Social Services and all stakeholders from the Garut Regency Social Services who, thank God, can gather today to express our condolences and condolences to the deceased's family," he said.
Asep hopes that this assistance can ease the burden and help the recovery process for families affected by the disaster.
"Thank God, the assistance you provided through the Head of Social Services has been well received and utilized to the fullest extent possible to alleviate the grief that has befallen the affected families," he concluded.
