PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - West Java Regional Secretary Herman Suryatman said that the Bandung City Government has agreed to reduce the waste delivery itinerary to the Sarimukti TPPAS.
Usually, Bandung City sends garbage trucks up to 170 trips per day with a volume of 7 tons per trip. The Bandung City Government has agreed to reduce it to 140 trips per day.
"We and the Bandung City Government have agreed to reduce the 170 rits per day to 140 rits per day. This means that there are 30 rits that must be reduced, and must be divided evenly across 30 sub-districts and 151 urban villages in Bandung City," said Herman Suryatman after a waste management meeting at the Bandung City Hall, Wednesday (9/10/2024) evening.
The meeting was attended by Acting Mayor of Bandung A. Koswara, related regional apparatus, as well as 30 sub-district heads and 151 village heads throughout Bandung City.
Herman said that Bandung City waste management is now a priority because it is the largest contributor of Bandung Raya waste to TPPAS Sarimukti. If not reduced, there is the potential for a "waste explosion" at TPPAS Sarimukti.
"That must not happen, there must be a reduction," said Herman firmly.
One way is with zero food waste. It is known that 50 percent of Bandung City's waste is leftover food or organic waste. For that, Herman invited Bandung City residents to minimize leftover food waste that is thrown into the trash.
"Come on, Bandung residents, don't have any leftover food waste from your homes, at least it can be reduced," said Herman.
Bandung City residents can take advantage of organic waste processing prepared by the government, such as TPS3R, composting machines, and maggots.
"The (Bandung City) government has prepared TPS3R, composting machines, maggots and others, please use them by the community to process food or organic waste," said Herman.
If waste shipments from Bandung City can be reduced, the service life of the Sarimukti TPPAS can be extended to 1 to 2 years.
"If it can be reduced, then Sarimukti's service life can be extended and it will be safer in the next 1 to 2 years. I am sure it can be done as long as we work together and are committed," concluded Herman.
Since September 9, 2024, the West Java Provincial Government has had a Waste Bank application feature which aims to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of waste management from upstream (waste source) to downstream (final disposal site), reduce environmental impacts, and increase public awareness and participation in waste management.
The Waste Bank feature is currently embedded in the Sapawarga application, which is a Jabar SuperApps, a platform that makes it easy for the public to obtain information, services and convey aspirations.
Sapawarga itself has been accessed by 2,914,981 users with a daily active user count of 90.21. Meanwhile, the Bank Sampah feature has been accessed 9,144 times by 7,505 users as of October 4, 2024.
