PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Cihapit Village, Bandung Wetan District continues to innovate in improving empowerment, environmental resilience and the economy of residents through the Motekar Education House.

Motekar Education House is a community education center that combines urban farming activities, waste management, and MSME empowerment.

Cihapit Village Head Yoga Hananto explained that the Motekar Education House was built in 2020–2021 using village funds.

"This place serves as a learning tool for the community, covering everything from food security and stunting prevention to MSME training," he said during the Bandung Mayor's Disaster Preparedness Neighborhood Watch (Siskamling) in Cihapit Village, Friday (10/10/2025).

At this location, residents manage fish, chicken, food crop cultivation, and even process maggots to decompose organic waste.

"We want residents to not only learn the theory, but also practice directly how to manage waste and utilize the results for economic benefit," he said.

In addition, the Motekar Education House also serves as a training ground for youth organizations and integrated health posts (posyandu), including health outreach activities for prospective brides and grooms.

"This program touches on many aspects: environmental, social, and economic," he said.

While reviewing the location, Farhan appreciated the innovation of the Motekar Education House in Cihapit Village, which has now developed into a center for education, economic empowerment, and organic waste processing.

Farhan assessed that this step is in line with the city government's program to expand community-based waste management.

"If every sub-district had an educational house like this, the waste problem in Bandung could be resolved more quickly," he said.

Farhan pushed for the facility to be expanded and used as an example for other areas.

"I want Cihapit to become a model for an independent village. The Motekar Education House is proof that innovation can start from a small community but have a big impact," he said.

He also asked the Environmental Agency to support additional infrastructure, including a small incinerator in the maggot processing area.

"If managed seriously, Motekar could inspire a clean and empowered city," he said. (Bandung City Communications and Information Service/UPI)
