During the Quiet Period, Bandung City Government Supports Bawaslu to Control APK

PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Entering the quiet campaign period on 11 - 13 February 2024, the Bandung City Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) held a standby rally at the Pajajaran Sports Hall, Saturday (10/2/2024).

The call is to ensure that members of the Supervisory Committee (Panwas) participate in organizing Campaign Display Equipment (APK) starting Sunday (11/2/2024). This was conveyed by the Chairman of Bandung City Bawaslu, Dimas A. Iskandar.

"Today we are carrying out a standby call to ensure that Bawaslu officials are ready to complete their supervisory duties, including during the quiet period," he said.

Dimas ensured that there would be no campaign activities during the quiet period. If there are campaign activities, sanctions will be imposed in accordance with the provisions of Law number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections.

"We ensure that there are no campaign activities in any form, including the installation of APKs," he said.

Ahead of the voting, Bandung City Bawaslu will also patrol to ensure there is no money politics.

"Whoever does it, there will be criminal sanctions in accordance with Law number 7 of 2017," he said.

Acting Mayor of Bandung, Bambang Tirtoyuliono, stated that the Bandung City Government together with the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) supported the Bandung City Bawaslu in controlling the APK.

"The Bandung City Government, as well as the police and TNI support Bawaslu so that the elections can take place safely and peacefully," he said.

He said that the ranks of the Bandung City Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) deployed 1,700 personnel to control APK.

"Satpol PP deployed 1,700 personnel, of course with assistance from the National Police and TNI," he said. (rdp*)
