PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Eid al-Fitr 2026 is a time for Muslims to apologize for their mistakes and shortcomings. West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi did just that after Eid al-Fitr prayers in the courtyard of Gedung Sate on Saturday (March 21, 2026).
He apologized to the people of West Java for his mistakes and shortcomings during his year as governor.
These deficiencies are evident in the uneven distribution of infrastructure development, which has made life difficult for a number of West Java residents.
For example, there are still irrigation channels that have not been built, residents' houses are damaged, children have not received schooling, and residents have difficulty getting medical treatment because they are not included in the BPJS Health data.
He also saw residents whose families couldn't afford shrouds and whose parents couldn't afford school uniforms and shoes. He even saw residents who couldn't eat because they ran out of rice.
Other problems that are often encountered are accidents due to damaged roads, residents who cannot afford the costs of giving birth and hospital treatment, resulting in death.
According to him, this condition would not have occurred if the West Java Provincial Government had seriously managed the government budget.
"I apologize to all the people of West Java for our mistake and we ask God's forgiveness for not providing the best service for the benefit of the community," said KDM, Dedi Mulyadi's nickname.
He promised to evaluate and provide better services to the people of West Java. Budget reallocations will be carried out to maximize public benefit.
KDM even promised to reduce his sleep time so he could serve the public more optimally.
"Leaders cannot sleep when there are still people who are hungry, not in school, or having difficulty getting medical treatment," he said.
According to him, the public should receive maximum service because they are obedient in paying taxes.
On that occasion, KDM also thanked the people of West Java for their tax compliance. In fact, West Java's tax revenues during Ramadan increased compared to other months.
