PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - PT PLN West Java Main Distribution Unit (UID) recorded a significant surge in electric vehicle (EV) use during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr (RAFI) standby period in 2026. This is reflected in the increase in transactions at Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU), which increased more than fourfold compared to the previous year.

During the RAFI 2026 standby period (March 12–31, 2026), the number of SPKLU transactions reached 74,366, a sharp increase compared to the 17,966 recorded in the RAFI 2025 period. This surge demonstrates growing public trust and interest in electric vehicles as an efficient and environmentally friendly mobility solution.

In terms of infrastructure, PLN UID West Java continues to strengthen service readiness by increasing the number of SPKLU units from 617 units in March 2025 to 825 units in March 2026. This addition was made to ensure the comfort of electric vehicle users, especially during the Eid homecoming and return flows.

Significant growth is also seen in electric two-wheeled vehicles. Two-wheeled service stations (SPKLU) transactions increased dramatically from 519 in 2025 to 14,627 in 2026, along with the increase in the number of R2 service stations (SPKLU) from 40 to 121.

General Manager of PLN UID West Java, Sugeng Widodo, said that this increase is a strong indicator that the electric vehicle ecosystem in West Java is growing.

"The surge in SPKLU transactions during the RAFI 2026 standby period shows that the public is increasingly confident and comfortable using electric vehicles. PLN remains committed to providing reliable, easily accessible infrastructure that provides real benefits to the community," Sugeng explained on Monday (April 13, 2026).

According to him, the increasing presence of SPKLU (Storage Service Stations) and various convenient services are also encouraging people to switch to electric vehicles. Besides being environmentally friendly, electric vehicles also offer cost savings compared to fuel-powered vehicles.

To further enhance customer convenience, PLN offers a variety of digital services through the PLN Mobile app. Through this app, users can easily find SPKLU locations, conduct transactions, and even request home charging installation.

Sugeng added that his party is not only building infrastructure, but also strengthening the electric vehicle ecosystem as a whole.

"We're here not only to provide electricity, but also to build an integrated electric vehicle ecosystem, from infrastructure and digital services to human resource development. This is part of PLN's contribution to supporting the clean energy transition," he added.

This step is in line with the policy of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia in encouraging the acceleration of the use of electric vehicles as part of efforts to reduce carbon emissions and achieve the national energy transition target.

Going forward, PLN UID West Java will continue to expand its SPKLU network, improve service quality, and strengthen collaboration with various parties to provide an increasingly convenient, affordable, and sustainable electric vehicle ecosystem for the community.

To date, there are 825 SPKLU units for electric four-wheeled vehicles in 485 locations across 27 regencies/cities in West Java. Meanwhile, there are 121 SPKLU units for electric motorcycles.

Krisantus stated that his party continues to strengthen service readiness by increasing the number of SPKLU units from 617 units in March 2025 to 825 units in March 2026. (Parno)
