PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The main pipeline owned by Perumda (PDAM) Tirtawening Bandung City on Jalan Stasiun Barat Banjaran, Bandung Regency, West Java is leaking. To continue serving around 40 thousand customers who are disrupted, PDAM Tirtawening has prepared a number of water tanker trucks.

Perumda Tirtawening, Bandung City, has prepared clean water tanker trucks to help supply water in anticipation of disruptions during the distribution process.

Customers can contact the Non-Piping Service Unit Office with terms and conditions of at least 10 customers to be coordinated by the RT, accommodated in the customer's water container (bucket) for free to telephone numbers 022-2507993 and 0887-79726506.

In addition, Perumda Tirtawening also prepares clean water tanker trucks to help supply water as anticipation during the distribution process being disrupted and customers can contact the Non-Piping Service Unit Office with terms and conditions of at least 10 customers to be coordinated, accommodated in the customer's water container (bucket) for free.

The Technical Director of PDAM Tirtawening Bandung City, Joni Mulyadi revealed that the leak occurred on Tuesday, (12/24/2024) yesterday. Initially, PDAM received reports from residents of water seepage coming out of one of the vehicle garages.

"Yesterday's residents reported that they heard a small explosion at the location at around 12.30 WIB. So this pipe is a raw water pipe that delivers or flows raw water from Cikalong to Badak Singa," said Joni.

He added that the pipe leak was caused by several bolts breaking that locked the pipe clamps that function to connect the pipes and caused the leak.

Furthermore, the position of the pipeline was under a garage built by local residents, so officers had to dismantle the garage area to make repairs.

"We call it the Old Cisangkuy Transmission Pipeline, its diameter is 800, flowing around 700 liters per second. Then after we take development measures first to reduce the discharge, then we decided to make repairs at least, because the location is not on the side of a major road, it does not interfere with Christmas and New Year activities later, the repairs," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Director of Services for Perumda Tirtawening, Bandung City, Novera Deliyasma explained that more than 40 thousand customers would be temporarily affected by the flow of clean water due to the leak in the main pipe.

The majority of affected customers are in four service areas, namely service area 2, area 3, area 5, and area 6, including the Antapani and Cicaheum areas.

"This has an impact on approximately 40 thousand customers. Service Area 2 includes Sukapada, Padasuka, Pasir Layung, Antapani. Then Cicaheum, the eastern area will probably be mostly affected. Then others such as Braga, Borangrang, Cibangkong, Kacapiring," he explained.

He said, the repair until the normalization of the main pipe channel is a maximum of 7 days, because it must replace bolts that are decades old and ensure that they do not leak again. Customers are also expected to be patient with the disruption of clean water supply for the next week.

"Because this is an empty pipe, every empty pipe will definitely be filled with air. When the water flows again, the problem is that the air becomes an obstacle. We have to slowly guide the water again. So we do some draining first so that the air comes out," said Novera.
