
PORTALJABAR, BEKASI CITY - Deputy Governor of West Java Erwan Setiawan accompanied the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno and the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono to visit flood victims in Bekasi City, Thursday (6/3/2025).
Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan said that the flood disaster that hit Bekasi, Tuesday (4/3), resulted in major losses and even a number of public facilities such as stadiums, hospitals, shopping centers and train stations were submerged in water.
"Based on information received from the Bekasi City BPBD, there are seven sub-districts affected, namely East Bekasi, North Bekasi, South Bekasi, Medan Satria, Jatiasih, Pondok Gede, and Rawalumbu," he explained.
According to Erwan, the flood that occurred in Bekasi City due to extreme rainfall since Monday (3/3), caused the rivers in Bekasi City to overflow and inundate residential areas and several public facilities.
"We also continue to coordinate with the Bekasi City BPBD and other related parties to assist in emergency response measures, especially reducing the impact of the disaster and ensuring the safety of the affected community," he said.
In addition, Erwan continued, support for clean water facilities and infrastructure for daily needs for refugees has also been distributed to logistics posts belonging to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).
The West Java Provincial Government together with related agencies continues to monitor conditions in the field and ensure that the handling process runs smoothly.
"Further identification is being carried out continuously to map out medium and long-term handling needs," he said.
"We also appeal to the Bekasi City Government and the public to remain vigilant against the potential for further flooding, evacuate to safer places and prepare the necessary basic needs, and follow the instructions of authorized officers," concluded Erwan.
