PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Bandung City started 2025 with good news. The Bandung City Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that inflation in Bandung City in December 2024 was recorded at 0.40 percent on a monthly basis (m-to-m).
In data released by the BPS of Bandung City, Thursday, January 2, 2025, the mtm inflation rate of Bandung City was recorded as lower than national inflation (0.44 percent) and showed that price control in Bandung City was relatively stable despite holding back the increase in prices of basic necessities ahead of Christmas and New Year.
Throughout 2024, year-to-date (ytd) inflation in Bandung City was at 1.61 percent, lower than the average for West Java (1.64 percent). This indicates that Bandung City has succeeded in maintaining economic stability amid rising price pressures on commodities such as rice, gold jewelry, and tobacco, which are the main contributors to annual inflation.
In the tourism sector, the room occupancy rate (TPK) of star hotels increased from 60.18 percent in October 2024 to 60.23 percent in November 2024. This increase was driven by various activities, such as culinary festivals, concerts, and graduations at a number of well-known universities in Bandung.
This reflects the continued attractiveness of Bandung City as a favorite tourist destination and center of economic activity in West Java.
With this achievement, Bandung City begins 2025 with full optimism, ready to continue its positive trend as a creative city and advanced and sustainable service. (Bandung City Communication and Information Service/Fauziah)
