PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Grand Mosque of Bandung City will once again become a center for Islamic propagation and community empowerment.

This was stated by the Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, when accompanying the General Chairman of the Indonesian Mosque Council, Jusuf Kalla (JK), who is also the former Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, at the Grand Mosque of Bandung, Tuesday (16/6/2026).

According to Farham, this momentum serves as an important reminder for all parties to continue to revitalize the function of mosques for the community.

"Alhamdulillah, the Bandung Grand Mosque was once again enlivened by the presence of the Chairman of the Indonesian Mosque Council, Jusuf Kalla. This is a momentum we will continue to promote with the Grand Mosque's Nazir to ensure this mosque continues to thrive with various activities," said Farhan.

He considered the message conveyed by Jusuf Kalla to be very relevant to the Bandung City Government's efforts to strengthen the socio-religious role of mosques.

In the future, the Nazir of the Great Mosque of Bandung City will develop various programs that will not only improve the mosque's prosperity but also have a real impact on the welfare of the residents.

"Mr. Jusuf Kalla's message was very important: not only should the residents contribute to the prosperity of the mosque, but the mosque must also contribute to the prosperity of the residents. God willing, the Grand Mosque Administrator will develop various programs to achieve this goal in the future," said Farhan.

The Bandung City Government, Farhan continued, is ready to provide full support to various programs initiated by the management of the Great Mosque of Bandung City so that their benefits can be felt more widely by the community.

"We are ready to fully support the various programs initiated by the Grand Mosque, so that their benefits can be felt directly by the wider community," he said.

Meanwhile, Jusuf Kalla stated that mosques have a strategic role that goes far beyond religious rituals. Therefore, mosques must become centers for fostering, educating, and strengthening community welfare.

"We often talk about improving mosques. But what's equally important is how mosques can also improve the welfare of their congregations," said Jusuf Kalla.

According to him, a mosque's prosperity is not only measured by its magnificent building, but also by the lively activities and involvement of its congregation. A mosque will prosper if it is filled with activities that benefit the community.

Jusuf Kalla also appreciated the long history of the Grand Mosque of Bandung, which has stood for more than two centuries. He hoped the historic mosque would continue to develop as a center of civilization and progress for the community in the city.
