PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - Garut Plaza traders distributed social assistance to the poor and orphans on the 2nd floor of Garut Plaza. (June 17, 2026)

The activity was held to welcome the Islamic New Year 1448 Hijriah in Garut City District.

The Garut Plaza All Indonesia Market Traders Association initiated social service activities and shared togetherness.

Assistance is provided to underprivileged communities and orphans around the Garut Plaza area.

Head of the Garut Regency ESDM Industry and Trade Agency, Ridwan Effendi, appreciated the social activities carried out by the traders.

He said the Islamic New Year should be a momentum for change towards better social and economic conditions.

"We intend to transform and migrate Garut Plaza in the future," he said.

According to him, social activities such as charity must continue to be carried out sustainably in various regions.

Garut Plaza Traders Chairman Aries Nurramdan said the activity was carried out thanks to the support of donors and traders.

A total of 100 basic food packages were distributed to the poor from Ciwalen and Sukamenteri sub-districts.

In addition, cash assistance and school supplies were also distributed to orphans.

Aries hopes that this assistance can ease the burden and provide encouragement to the beneficiaries.

The Chairman of the Garut Hebat Traders Cooperative, Wawan Karyawan, appreciated the traders' enthusiasm in maintaining the continuity of economic activities.

This activity is expected to strengthen social solidarity and encourage the economic revival of Garut Plaza.
