PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) again demolished several semi-permanent structures standing above the Cikakak River on Jalan Muhamad, Pamoyanan Village, Cicendo District, Bandung City, on Wednesday (June 10, 2026). The demolition was carried out as part of efforts to normalize the river basin (DAS) and follow up on public complaints.

Head of Public Order and Public Order of Bandung City Satpol PP, Mohamad Harry Chrismarjadi, explained that the enforcement began with the results of the visit of the Mayor of Bandung when attending the Disaster Alert Siskamling activity in the area.

During the visit, it was discovered that there were buildings standing on the river and complaints from local residents regarding environmental conditions.

"This is a follow-up to findings in the field and public complaints. After coordinating and meeting with the regional government, we immediately implemented the cleanup," said Harry.

According to him, this step aims to restore the river's function and ensure optimal water flow. Furthermore, buildings are not permitted on river banks, as they could potentially impede water flow and increase the risk of disasters.

"Our main goal is to normalize river flow areas. Normatively, there are no buildings allowed above river flows," he said.

During the operation, six semi-permanent structures were identified as targets of demolition. Two were demolished independently by their owners, while the other four were removed by officers on the same day.

Harry explained that the buildings being demolished were not residents' primary homes, but rather additions or extensions to existing homes. However, they covered almost the entire riverbank, making them necessary for the common good.

The regulatory process involved various elements, starting from the Bandung City Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), the Water Resources and Highways Agency (DSDABM), the Ciptabintar Agency, the Transportation Agency, the Communication and Information Agency, the Environmental Agency (DLH), the Health Agency, the DPKP, the Cicendo Police, the 1803 Andir Cicendo Military District Command (Koramil 1803 Andir Cicendo), and regional officials.

To support these activities, the Bandung City Government has prepared four vehicles to transport the demolition materials, consisting of two dump trucks and two regular trucks, two jack hammers and one ambulance.

Although they had considered using heavy equipment, officers ultimately carried out the demolition manually due to limited access to the location.

"Initially, we planned to use heavy equipment, but access to the site is very limited. Even small heavy equipment couldn't enter, so the demolition was carried out using portable equipment that could be transported directly to the site," he said.
