PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung City has confirmed that eight destinations will once again be served: Denpasar, Balikpapan, Medan, Pontianak, Makassar, Batam, Padang, and Pekanbaru.

This was stated by the Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan at the Bandung Arena GOR, Saturday (4/7/2026).

Farhan explained that flight operations fall entirely under the authority of the Ministry of Transportation. However, he revealed several flight routes projected to be served when Husein Sastranegara Airport resumes operations.

"Hopefully, we can fly to Denpasar, Balikpapan, Medan, Pontianak, Makassar, Batam, Padang, and Pekanbaru. Those eight destinations are confirmed," he said.

Beyond that, the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) continues to prepare various supporting infrastructure ahead of the planned reopening of Husein Sastranegara Airport. While operational decisions rest with the central government, the city government ensures that all preparations outside the airport area are being expedited.

Farhan said the central government has reached an agreement regarding the plan to reopen Husein Sastranegara Airport between July and September 2026.

"Thank God, although we're not the decision-makers, the President, the Minister of Transportation, the Ministry of Defense, and the Indonesian Air Force have all agreed to reopen the airport between July, August, or September. We're still waiting," said Farhan.

While awaiting an official decision, the Bandung City Government is focusing on completing various infrastructure projects around the airport, including road repairs, drainage, tree pruning, street lighting installation and repair, and road marking updates.

According to Farhan, most of the physical preparations have been completed. However, there are still some tasks that need to be completed, particularly regarding the parking system and transportation arrangements within the airport area.

"The remaining issues are parking, parking management, and taxis. It's been confirmed that public transportation, such as public transportation (angkot) or buses, will not be allowed there. If available, we'll only provide shuttles, but that's not finalized yet. Externally, we're ready," he explained.
