PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - Garut Regency Regional Secretary (Sekda) Nurdin Yana expressed his appreciation for Mercy Corps Indonesia's contribution in training for more than 32 thousand Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Garut Regency.

This was conveyed by Nurdin at the STRIVE Facilitator Training of Trainers (ToT) event held at the Fave Hotel Garut, Monday (21/10/2024).

Nurdin admitted that due to the limited Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD), the Garut Regency Government has difficulty reaching all MSMEs directly.

"It is very difficult for us to disburse funds to reach 32 thousand MSMEs with the programs and activities that we fund. Alhamdulillah, Mercy Corps Indonesia has helped by reaching these MSMEs," he said.

In this training, Nurdin emphasized the importance of three main aspects that must be considered, namely knowledge, attitude, and skills (psychomotor).

He hopes that through this training, MSMEs in Garut will be able to develop and contribute to food security, in accordance with the hopes of President Prabowo Subianto.

In line with Nurdin, Head of the Garut Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Service (Diskop UKM),
Ridzky Ridznurdhin also praised the STRIVE Program initiated by Mercy Corps Indonesia.

According to him, this program has reached 32,823 micro-businesses, of which 15,197 have joined the MicroMentor platform.

"The STRIVE program is extraordinary, because we realize that the government cannot work alone. With the principle of collaboration and a focus on digitalization and access to capital, this program helps develop the entrepreneurial ecosystem, especially in the tourism sector," said Ridzky.

Ridzky also added that micro businesses play an important role in creating jobs and reducing poverty. The STRIVE program is in line with President Prabowo's vision to improve economic and food security in Indonesia.

"I from the Cooperatives Service will always continue to support, working together with Mercy Corps through the STRIVE program supported by Mastercard International," he said. (Garut Communications and Information Service/Revo)
