PORTALJABAR, KUNINGAN REGENCY - West Java Provincial Secretary Herman Suryatman expressed his appreciation for the 2026 West Java BUMDes Festival held at the Darma Reservoir tourist attraction in Kuningan on Sunday (August 30, 2026). He believes the festival, attended by all BUMDes across West Java, can boost BUMDes productivity as a contributor to village economic development.

The 2026 West Java BUMDes Festival showcased a variety of innovative products. Thousands of enthusiastic attendees raved about the festival, as it included a bazaar of BUMDes products, a fun walk (Jabar Slow Emotion), talk shows, and a culinary attraction called "ngecrok tutut sajedingna."

Regional Secretary Herman stated on the occasion that BUMDes must continue to improve business management, production management, and marketing. Therefore, the BUMDes Forum is not only about holding a festival; more importantly, its substance and sustainability are paramount.

"Ensure that all BUMDes administrators are professional and have good governance. They can also synergize with BUMDs, and BUMDs must advance together with BUMDes, not just individually," Herman said.

Regional Secretary Herman is committed to continuing to promote village economic growth, with Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) as the driving force. One way he is doing this is by encouraging the management of the Darma Reservoir tourism area, which he believes is still suboptimal.

"How can Darma Reservoir become a leading tourist attraction without proper management? We see it as just ordinary today," he said.

Herman continued, optimizing the management of the Darma Reservoir should be able to contribute to Jaswita, BUMDes, the Regency Government, and the nine villages around the reservoir.

"The profits from this tourism management should be optimal so that it contributes to Jaswita, the Regency Government, the Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes), and the nine surrounding villages. Therefore, we will continue to encourage this, and BUMDes must be the driving force," said Herman.

Tutut Sajedingna Ngecrok Festival

One of the highlights of the 2026 West Java BUMDes Festival was the Sajedingna Tutut Ngecrok Festival. The culinary attraction involved eating tutut without any utensils, and was attended by the West Java Regional Secretary, the Kuningan Regent, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and hundreds of members of the public.

Regional Secretary Herman stated that the uniqueness of tutut lies in its content of animal protein, calcium, and iron. These three nutritional qualities can produce a reliable, superior, and high-quality generation.

"Don't mess around with snails if we want to produce a reliable, superior, and high-quality generation. One of the things we need is sufficient animal protein intake, and snails have that, including snails, which also contain calcium and iron," said Herman.

Not only that, the calcium and iron content of snails can also stimulate growth, thereby preventing growth failure or stunting.

Herman encouraged the public to increase their consumption of snails (tutut). This food is readily available, as it's a traditional Sundanese staple. Daily snail production from the Darma Reservoir alone reaches four quintals.

"Take the time to consume snails (tutut), as they have extraordinary nutritional value and promote longevity. In West Java, snails are easy to find, as they are a simple Sundanese food," Herman urged.
