PORTALJABAR, BOGOR REGENCY - West Java Regional Secretary Herman Suryatman said that storytelling and introducing folk tales can be an effective means of preparing a superior and character-based generation to realize Golden Indonesia 2045.
This was stated by Regional Secretary Herman while attending the Suara Nusantara Folk Storytelling Festival with the theme "Bringing West Javanese Legends to Life, Inspiring the Future" at the Auditorium of the Bogor Regency Regional Secretariat, Sunday (23/8/2026) morning.
According to Regional Secretary Herman, the children participating in these activities are the future generation who will play a crucial role in determining Indonesia's direction over the next 19 years. Therefore, various activities that can build character, creativity, and abilities in children need to be continuously encouraged.
"The President's vision, the vision of the Red and White Cabinet, and all of our vision is to realize a progressive Indonesia towards a Golden Indonesia 2045. The children who participate in storytelling activities today will be our captains in 19 years," said Herman.
He stated that one of the keys to a developed nation is superior human resources (HR) with strong character. This is part of the West Java Provincial Government's responsibility to prepare a future generation with strong competence and character.
He stated that there are four important competencies that need to be developed from an early age: critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. He believes these competencies can be fostered through various creative learning environments, including storytelling and storytelling activities.
On the other hand, Herman believes the use of regional languages in folklore plays a crucial role in preserving identity and helping the younger generation understand life values relevant to current developments. He believes that regional languages provide the foundation for elaborating on various contemporary life phenomena with a rich local cultural perspective.
Herman emphasized that activities such as the Suara Nusantara Folk Storytelling Festival can continue to be part of the joint effort to prepare the golden generation of West Java and Indonesia.
"This activity may be a small part, but it is very effective in preparing the golden generation in the future," he concluded.
